The Tustin Garden Club is an enthusiastic group of gardeners dedicated to encouraging education at all levels regarding gardening and ecology. We are affiliated with the National Association of Garden Clubs.
For the past several years, the Tustin Garden Club has presented the Annual Spring Garden tour of private Tustin area gardens. This tour provides opportunities for greater community involvement and furthers knowledge of horticulture, ecology and landscape design. The tour also serves as a vehicle to raise awareness of our "gardens in the schools" program as well as our other civic endeavors.
For almost a decade, the Tustin Garden Club has joined with up to 12 local schools in the creation, development and maintenance of school gardens. With links to science, math and nutrition, these gardens have been proven to enhance the academic curriculum. Through the hands-on gardening experience, students are introduced not only to horticulture but also to conservation, an appreciation of nature and healthy living practices. Students learn to be responsible and capable stewards of the environment.
The club also funds college scholarships each year. These go to students majoring in horticulture, landscape design and environmental studies.
Tustin Garden Club encourages individuals and local area businesses in the use of native plants and curbside plantings and gives recognition for these significant contributions, all of which serve to enrich our community.
Our members have participated in garden-related book fairs, park improvement partnerships and the Audubon Big Backyard Bird Count.
